First of all, we believe that the quality of the education we provide is very high. We think that our students who have been awarded in different competitions (https://fada.mef.edu.tr/competitions-awards)and many students who have successfully completed their internships abroad (https://fada.mef.edu.tr/internships)are the proofs of this quality. The strong solidarity and sharing environment in our university contributes greatly to the educational processes for our students. In FADA; there is a learning environment that is not competitive, it is a sharing environment, which encourages learning and production together, and accepts students' support for each other as a lifestyle. Our university has non-hierarchical, horizontal decision-making processes. In the forums, which we hold twice every semester, where students and teachers have the right to speak, we discuss all kinds of problems and suggestions and decide unanimously by all participants. We fully believe that the university should be a democratic and participatory environment.

What is the difference between Interior Design and Architecture departments/professions?

Both professions aim to solve spatial design problems for living things. However, the scales they work on are different. Architects designs by coping with boundaries such as climate, topography, environmental structures or natural elements. However, the primary limit of interior designers is the shell of the structure they designed in. Due to the scale difference; atmosphere, detail, material, color and texture are considered and discussed more in interior design education.

Can I transfer between Architecture and Interior Design Departments?

Yes. Condition for transfers from Interior Design to Architecture: University entrance exam ranking score should be above 250.000 (Official threshold score for Admission to Undergraduate Programs in Architecture, set by Council of Higher Education -YÖK-.)

Shall MEF FADA find me an internship position while I'm studying?

No. We support our students in the portfolio and CV creation process, but FADA does not offer a list to find internships and cannot arrange internships for students. As in many subjects, the biggest advantage of students in finding an internship is the culture of solidarity existing in Hangar. In this way, students can support each other and be inspired by each other. We think that finding students' internships themselves is part of their education and personal development. Over the years, our students are doing their internship successfully in Turkey and around the world, this proves the accuracy of our thoughts. Is it possible to do an internship abroad while studying at Mef FADA?

Of course, it's possible. Between 2016 and 2019, more than one hundred of our students did internships in various offices around the world. Some of them even got the opportunity to start their professional life in the countries they went to by getting a job offer from their internship offices. Our students can also benefit from Erasmus support for their internship abroad.

What kind of application is done for internship in MEF FADA?

1-Design and Build!, an internship organized by the school at the end of the first year. 
2-Professional internship / office and construction internship (total 72 days). This number shows the minimum requirement. We think that internship is very important for education. Our advice is to do as many internships as possible.

Can I find a job when I graduate?

FADA graduates its students as well-equipped architects / interior designers who have gained experience by doing many internships and created a very solid social network thanks to Hangar. Our close relations and solidarity with our graduates continue. Of course, the student's performance, determination and willingness are extremely important in this regard.

Is talent a must in design education?

Skills falling within the scope of 'talent' are not as important as is generally understood in society. Providing all kinds of skills to all students is one of the primary tasks of the school. This question should be asked as follows: I want to study in one of the design areas. What should I do to see if I am eligible for this training? This question can be answered as follows: being interested in different fields (such as science, technology, music, cinema), knowing that not every question has only one correct answer, having analytical thinking skills, loving design fields, being ready for hard work.

What are the job opportunities for someone who graduated from the Department of Architecture?

It is very common to work in the design companies, construction companies, the materials industry, or to set up your own design company. There are also many graduates working in different sectors by using creative thinking skills, problem solving, and social skills brought by design education. It is also possible to work in design-related fields such as the art industry, game design and production, according to one's interest and self-development.

What are the challenges of studying Architecture / Interior Design?

Apart from the need to work hard, it is possible to experience difficulties in the subjects that high school education is missing to providing students. These can be said briefly, the need to produce thoughts individually, the ability to use initiative, not to be surprised when different opinions are encountered, to get used to the fact that any question may have multiple correct answers.

I can see no detailed courses on Structural Design like Strength of Materials, Statics, Reinforced Concrete Structures etc. in your curriculum. Why?"

At MEF FADA we believe in simplicity and integrity. We achieve solid use of acquired knowledge and skills by integration of theoretical courses into design studio projects. A series of Technology Courses (1 to 4) cover all elements of building technology, ranging from Building Materials to Structural Design. This way we enable the efficient use of course work on building technology in your designs. No finish & forget courses.

Why are the Architecture and Interior Design Departments project courses at MEF FADA 12 hours a week?

Our training program is based on learning by doing. Theoretical courses are designed to support students' production in the studio. Studios are the backbone of education and are supported by other courses.

What kind of facilities do MEF FADA offer to her students?

Our studio space, FADA Hangar, which allows our students to work together or individually outside of class hours, is open 24/7. Each student has a desk and a cabinet that he can use throughout his education life. Do I have the opportunity to be a student assistant to support my education at MEF FADA?

Of course, there is. As MEF FADA, we offer the opportunity to work as a student assistant for the hourly fee for the activities that take place within the various courses offered by the faculty. We started the program that senior students gave technical support by assisting first-year students in the Spring semester of 2020 during the distance education process. Since it was very successful, we decided to implement the program every year.

What is the share of elective courses in MEF FADA programs?

We think that the most important component of modern education is the elective courses that each student can choose according to their own interests. 50 of the total 240 credits of Architecture and Interior Architecture programs consist of elective courses.
