Architecture (Undergraduate)

Bachelor Program in Architecture at FADA enables students to work in a rigorous and collaborative academic environment. Through our Design-Build Studio, our students are given the chance to work on real-life design problems through our collaborations with public institutions, NGO’s and local organizations. The program approaches design ’as a service to the community’ and this reflects in our curriculum. Beyond these local strengths and engagement, our students can also take part in a global experience of architectural practice and education through the Erasmus program, either as a student in our partner schools; or as an intern in various design offices around the world. Additionally being located in one of the world cities, Istanbul, offers us an amazing urban laboratory to work with, experiencing and discussing all its layers, potentials as well as its problems.

Education at FADA  places design studio in the center while integrating several design issues: cultural, social, environmental, technological, theoretical, economic and political. All required courses are organized to support design thinking for the appropriate levels and they are integrated and discussed as part of the design problem in the studio. Through our elective courses and invited talks we also try to bring our students in contact with various accomplished designers and academics, always pushing the boundaries of conventions by helping them develop a critical and ethical horizon.

Finally, both physical and the mental studio environment is organized to nurture peer teaching and teamwork. We make sure that our students are involved in the further enrichment of our curriculum as well as in the development of extracurricular programs. We believe in the value of the inputs coming from our students in developing a relevant, contemporary and a dynamic program in order to raise young architects who are successful in teamwork and capable in resuming leadership roles in their work environments.
